Phyllis J. Menz, 88, of Janesville, WI passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 following a brief illness. Phyllis was born in Janesville on June 7, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Lydia (Zahn) West. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1944. Phyllis married Harry C. Menz on September 15, 1945. Phyllis was a wonderful homemaker and cook who shared her cooking and baking skills with many. She was very active volunteering in the kitchen at the U.A.W. Hall for many years as well as for ECHO, Meals On Wheel,  the Adams and Roosevelt Breakfast Clubs and with Crop Walk. She was a communion server at Cargill United Methodist Church for many years and was active in the women’s circles in the churches where she was a member. She was a current member of Trinity Free Lutheran Church.
Surviving are Phyllis’ husband of 68 years, Harry, four daughters, Bonnie (Nelson) Mowry, Judy (Kevin) Manz, Toni (Jim) Kelly, Cindy (Ken) Warner all of Janesville, seven grandchildren, Teresa (Steve) Riesterer, Sarah (Keith) Paul, Bryan (Ann Dingman) Mowry, Heidi (Jason) Graf, Nathan Manz, Becky Kelly, John (Lea) Discher, 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Brittany, Ashley, Kaylie, Autumn, Braden, Caleb, Joshua, Malachi and Dana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Manz, her brother, Donald West and her sister, Marcella Davis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, 2727 Holiday Drive, Janesville with Pastor Jon Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Church.  Memorials may be made to Love, INC.  Henke-Clarson Funeral Home is assisting the Menz family.
